About the role
Our partner is seeking Embedded Software Engineers across their Applications, Software, and Open Source departments to contribute to groundbreaking projects. You'll help shape the future of wireless connectivity by developing advanced Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah) chipsets for IoT devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop software solutions for customer projects and provide on-site support as needed
- Work directly with customers through online and in-person meetings to understand and address technical requirements
- Assist customers in porting and deploying software components across various platforms
- Create workflows for public software releases and external contributions
- Support Wi-Fi HaLow adoption through contributions to external open source projects
- Develop and maintain embedded software for Wi-Fi HaLow chipsets
- Work with RTOS environments on system components including bootloaders, device drivers, and interrupt handlers
- Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware integration issues using GDB, Logic Analyzers, and Wireshark
- Design and implement efficient communication protocols with hardware teams
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews while being a model for best practices
- Optimize system resources through performance analysis to ensure operational efficiency
Requirements:
- Strong theoretical and hands-on background in Embedded C programming
- Experience working with FreeRTOS or similar real-time operating systems
- High-level skills in debugging with the use GDB, Logic Analyzers, and Wireshark
- Comprehensive understanding of software development flows and processes
- Proficiency with version control and issue tracking systems
- Excellent communication skills; able to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences
Desirable:
- Strong grasp of Wi-Fi networking, including the theory of operations
- Experience with the OSI model and Ethernet processes
- Familiarity with working using Python, Bash, and Makefile scripts
- Proficiency in Linux, particularly with Linux shell and networking utilities
- Experience with ARM Cortex and RISC-V architectures
- Experience within GNU/Linux, GCC, and Make development environment
- Experience with wireshark for testing and debugging of 802.11 systems
- Experience with various hardware interfacing buses (SDIO, SPI, I2C)
